Dr. Stefano Podetta graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2001 and he specialised in Neurosurgery in 2006 at the Università degli Studi in Brescia. From 2005 to 2009 he was Medical Director at the OU of Neurosurgery of the Azienda Istituti Ospitalieri in Cremona; since 2009 he has been Medical Director at the OU of Neurosurgery of Fondazione Poliambulanza in Brescia where he is co-ordinator of training, quality manager and medical supervisor with regards to interdisciplinary meetings of neuro-oncology. Since 2018 he has been teaching in the Master’s Degree courses for nurses working in operating theatres and A & E at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Brescia. He has gained experience in the fields of cranial, spinal and peripheral nervous system surgery with over 1,300 interventions under his belt. His areas of interest are cranial surgery, particularly with regards to benign and malignant tumour pathologies, spinal surgery (spinal tumours, herniated disc, cervical and lumbar hernia, vertebral instability), and peripheral nervous system surgery (carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar nerve compression at the elbow). He also deals with advanced pain therapy through spinal neuro-stimulation (system of electrocatheters and stimulators). Whenever it is possible, he prefers a conservative approach with his patients, especially when it comes to degenerative spinal pathology.
